Bob O'Connor donated the funds to establish the Resource Center. A Director Emeritus on USA Hockey's Board of Directors, he created the center to preserve rare coaching resources and share them with current and future coaches, players and hockey enthusiasts. He collected an array of instructional books and videos that focus on teaching hockey skills.
His collection includes artwork from the artists: Robert K. Abbett, Patricia Bourque, William Roy Brownridge, Terrence Fogarty, Tony Harris, Dave Hendrickson, Steven A. Hovel, Michael La Pensee, D.R. Laid, James Meger, John Newby, David Preston Smith, Terry Tomalty, and Ken Wales.
Lou Vairo is one of the most experienced ice hockey coaches in America, having directed national and professional teams in the United States and Europe for more than two decades. His vast coaching resume includes having served as head coach of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team. Vairo has coached every age group of youth hockey, including the New York Rangers. He also studied under the legendary Anatoly Tarasov, the father of Russian Hockey.
Vairo donated his 1984 Olympic Winter Games photo scrapbooks and seminar program materials.
