USA Hockey Seeks Manager of Communications

Job Title: Manager of Communications

Reports To:    

Director of Sales & Marketing, USA Hockey Arena

Liaison to USA Hockey National Office, Senior Director, Communications

Basic Function: Lead all communications, including media and public relations, associated with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program and USA Hockey Arena.

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and maintain dynamic content for the NTDP, USA Hockey Arena, CJ’s Brewing Company and Summer Drive-In websites and social media channels, including written, graphic and video content.

Cultivate relationships with local and national media members and serve as a liaison between the media and USA Hockey personnel.

Maintain all social media channels associated with the NTDP and USA Hockey Arena and manage ongoing social media advertising campaigns.

Work with the sales and marketing staff to cultivate communications strategies to increase ticket, sponsorship and USA Hockey Arena programming (Learn-To-Skate, House Hockey) sales.

Supervise full-time staff of two employees and develop student intern staff to assist in all facets of communications efforts.

Write and distribute all press releases associated with the National Team Development Program, including its U.S. Under-17 and Under-18 Teams, and USA Hockey Arena and its properties.

Manage NTDP’s statistical and historical records and photo/video archive.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field or combination of education and equivalent experience

Experience:

3-5 years of related experience in a marketing, public relations or communications position. 

Skills:

Excellent writing and editing skills.

Demonstrated experience in social media/new media.

Demonstrated ability in multi-media production (graphic design, video, etc.).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Hockey knowledge preferred.

Work Conditions:

Office in a multi-level building, which includes 4,000-seat Arena, multiple office areas and press-box.

Office equipment including laptop, video and digital cameras, etc….

Travel up to 10% of time.

Willingness to work off-hours, weekends and holidays.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefit package.

Availability:

Position to begin immediately in Plymouth, Michigan office.
