USA Hockey and the Concussion Legacy Foundation are teaming up this week (Oct. 22-26) to improve concussion reporting rates and strengthen team bonds through Team Up Speak Up.
The objective is simple — athletes should report to a team leader if they notice concussion signs in a teammate. To deliver that message, USA Hockey and the CLF are asking coaches and team leaders to give the following speech to their players:
“We’re a team, and we look out for each other. A teammate with a concussion needs your help. I expect you to speak up to a coach or athletic trainer if you think a teammate might have a concussion.”
Throughout the week, players and coaches are encouraged to share the speech given to their teams on social media using #TeamUpSpeakUp.
