The 2018 NHL Draft begins tonight here at the American Airlines Center in Dallas at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Among the American players eligible for the draft are former members of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, which plays in the United States Hockey League; silver medalists at the IIHF Men's Under-18 World Championship and bronze medalists at the IIHF World Junior Championship; attendees at the 2017 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and 20 players who have been invited to the 2018 World Junior Summer Showcase.

Throughout their draft-eligible season, several players have taken time to recognize those who have helped them reach this point in their careers.

Brady Tkachuk: "Every time I talk to my dad he gives me two rules: compete everyday and be a good teammate. I try to take that and try to work my hardest to get better and work to help my teammates get better and be there to support the guys. My brother has taught me to be a professional every day — eat like one, work like one and treat your body like one and just be focused for everything I do."

Quinn Hughes: “People always ask me how I prepared for NHL Combine interviews, and I reply that I have been groomed for this. I didn’t really need to prepare since [my dad and I] talk hockey every day. He was just awesome growing up with us, he really put a lot of time into making me and my brothers good players.”

Oliver Wahlstrom: “[My dad] was tough on me,” recalled the junior Wahlstrom. “We had some long car rides home from places like Toronto, and he’d let me know what I didn’t do right. Other parents would be saying, ‘Why are you so tough on him?’ But I’m glad he was. He helped me get better, and now he can just sit back and enjoy this.”
