Kara Deschenes Named Director of Human Resources for USA Hockey

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced today that Kara Deschenes has been named director of human resources for USA Hockey.

Deschenes joins USA Hockey after serving as senior manager of talent acquisition and retention, human resources and educator quality with the Pasco County School District in Land O' Lakes, Fla., where she supervised and managed a team that provided human resource services to 85 schools and 23 district departments.

She led efforts to implement recruitment, engagement and retention strategies for a district of 10,000 employees, including having designed and overseen a performance management process for the entire organization. 

Throughout her time at the Pasco County School District, she also oversaw one of Florida's leading teacher alternative certification programs and consistently made presentations on human resources best practices at the local, state and national levels.

She has been affiliated with the Pasco County School District since 2003, beginning as a literacy coach, and middle and high school English teacher.

Deschenes owns a bachelor of arts degree in English (2000) and master of science degree in business management (2001), both from the University of Florida.

She will begin her duties with USA Hockey on May 7.
