Presidents Day Weekend is always a highlight on the youth hockey calendar, with games and tournaments nationwide and the anticipation of playoff hockey coming just around the corner.
The Lady Patriots hockey program put a new twist on that excitement in Warnminster, Pennsylvania, complementing its recent Presidents Day Classic with a 60-minute goaltending development clinic co-hosted by USA Hockey. Nineteen girls between the ages of 10 and 19 attended the clinic, which featured instruction from USA Hockey goaltending development coordinator Terry Jarkowsky, as well as USA Hockey American Development Model regional manager Rich Hansen.
“With so many aspiring young goalies already there for the tournament, it just seemed like a natural fit to add a goalie-specific skill development opportunity to really make it an all-around fun learning experience for the girls,” said Jarkowsky. “It was great to see all the energy and excitement. The girls were focused and eager to learn and we had a blast working with them.”
