USA Hockey American Development Model regional managers Roger Grillo and Rich Hansen helped the New Jersey Devils conduct their Hockey is For Everyone Clinic on Feb. 2, which featured attendees from the New Jersey Devils Diversity Hockey Program, the American Special Hockey Association, the NYC Gay Hockey Association, the NHL/NHLPA/New Jersey Devils Learn-to-Play Program, the Woodbridge Warriors sled hockey team and local girls hockey players.

Before hitting the ice, the players were welcomed by special guest speakers Willie O’Ree, the first black player to play in the NHL, and New Jersey Devils captain Andy Greene.

Following the guest speakers, players participated in an hour-long clinic on the main ice sheet at Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils, with Grillo and Hansen serving as on-ice instructors.

“I thought it was really impressive to have so many different backgrounds of young people who have a passion to play our game on the ice at one time,” said Grillo.
