On Sept. 12, 2017, the Concussion Legacy Foundation will hold its second annual “Team Up Speak Up Day,” which encourages athletes to speak up when they think that someone on their team has a concussion. This is done through asking coaches to give this simple speech to their teams:

“We’re a team and we look out for each other. A teammate with a concussion needs your help. I expect you to speak up to a coach or athletic trainer if you think a teammate might have a concussion.”

Some 150 organizations representing more than 3 million athletes participated in the inaugural Team Up Speak Up Day in 2016, including four national governing bodies and nine state high school associations.

Players and coaches are encouraged to share the speech given to their teams on social media using #TeamUpSpeakUp.
