Late Comeback Pushes U18s Past Dubuque, 3-1

U18s earn a sweep against Dubuque with a late-game push

The U.S. National Under-18 team rallied late to defeat the Dubuque Fighting Saints, 3-1, Saturday night and sweep the weekend series.

After a scoreless first period, the Fighting Saints opened the scoring at 6:06 of the second after cleaning up a rebound.

Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) tied the game at 9:07 of the third period pushing the puck in after a Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis. Mo.) shot.

Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) gave the U18s the lead at 14:30 of the third period sending the puck past Dubuque’s Jaxon Castor on the rebound. Jake Wise (North Andover, Mass.) and Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) picked up assists on the game-winner.

Tkachuk added an empty-net goal at 19:58 of the third to seal the win.

Team USA’s Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) ended the night with 26 saves. Dubuque’s Castor finished with 29 saves.
