Tortora Nets Two; U18s Drop Decision at Wisconsin, 4-3

The U.S. National Under-18 Team tallied three goals in their 4-3 loss to the University of Wisconsin at the Kohl Center in Madison on Friday evening.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team tallied three goals in their 4-3 loss to the University of Wisconsin at the Kohl Center in Madison on Friday evening.

Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) netted two goals and now leads the team with five tallies on the season.

Team USA responded to an early Badgers’ goal with two quick goals to take the lead going into the second period.

Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) put the U18s on the board first, scoring off a pass from Brady Tkachuck (St. Louis, Mo.) at 8:45 in the first period.

Tortora doubled Team USA’s lead less than two minutes later. Logan Cockerhill (Brighton, Mich.) and Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) recorded assists on the play.

Tortora’s second goal came at 10:50 in the third period, and Miller and Graham Slaggert (South Bend, Ind.) assisted on the play.

NTDP alum Luke Kunin (2013-15) netted a goal for the Badgers. Ryan Wagner (2013-14) and Trent Frederic (2014-16) each recorded assists.

Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) made 24 saves between the pipes for Team USA.

The Under-18 Team faces University of Minnesota Duluth tomorrow night (7 p.m. CT) before returning to USA Hockey Arena on Saturday, Oct. 29 to host Princeton University. Tickets are available at USAHockeyArena.com.
