Gameday: Team USA vs. Russia in WSHC Action

TODAY’S GAME
The 2016 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team continues preliminary round action at the 2016 World Sled Hockey Challenge against Russia at Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (capacity: 1,200) in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. The game will be streamed live on FASTHockey.com. 

USA VS. RUSSIA
Team USA leads the all-time series vs. Russia, 7-1-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L). In their last meeting, the U.S. defeated Russia, 6-1, in the opening game of the 2015 IPC Sled Hockey World Championship in Buffalo, New York. The two teams met twice in last year’s World Sled Hockey Challenge, with the U.S. earning a 3-2 victory in preliminary round play as well as a 2-1 overtimetime win the championship game.

LAST GAME: USA 8, KOREA 1 
Team USA opened the 2016 World Sled Hockey Challenge with an 8-1 victory over Korea. Declan Farmer scored a hat trick and Josh Pauls recorded four points in the win. Six players posted multi-point games in the win, including Declan Farmer (3-1--4), Billy Hanning (0-2--2), Nikko Landeros (1-1--2), Kevin McKee (0-3--3), Josh Pauls (2-2--4) and Brody Roybal (1-2--3). Farmer was named the U.S. Player of the Game.

OTHER TIDBITS
Forward Josh Misiewicz, who skated for Team USA last season, is missing the tournament due to injury ... Last season, Brody Roybal collected 13 assists, the most by a U.S. player since the 2007 season. His linemate, Declan Farmer, tallied 21 points, the most by a U.S. player since Alexi Salamone recorded 21 in the 2009-10 season ... Since 2007, Adam Page’s 33 goals from 2007-16 ranks second only to Taylor Lipsett who lit the lamp 36 times from 2007-14 ... Also on the Top 10 list in goals since 2007 are Josh Pauls (4th, 27), Declan Farmer (5th, 24), Nikko Landeros (6th, 23), Kevin McKee (8th, 21) and Dan McCoy (9th, 15) ... The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team returns 15 players from last year’s undefeated team ... Last November, USA Hockey unveiled the 10 sled hockey programs that will equally share $250,000 in grants provided by Labatt USA through its Pass it Forward initiative
