After undefeated preliminary round, it’s time for a few days off for U.S. Women's National Team

Preliminary Effort: The first three games have gone well and Team USA is undefeated and has outscored their opponents, 17-5. It’s been a total team effort with a different players stepping up at the right times.

Success, Swedish & Time Off: After a successful preliminary round, it’s time for a few days off from competition.

At the urging of Hilary Knight, an impromptu Swedish lesson broke out with team host, Linn Martin. Megan Keller and Hannah Brandt provided their best efforts and a few laughs along the way. They were fast learners and you can see more on the blog Hilary is doing with TeamUSA.org.

Homework: It’s common to see some of the college players grabbing a corner in the hotel and finding time to catch up on papers and projects during their down time. One can only imagine at the difficulties of maintaining their assignments while in the midst of intense competition for their country. It’s tough to decide what might be more stressful.

Coffee: It’s a common bond that most players enjoy with some degree of frequency. So here in Malmo, those players need to find something to replace their Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts habits. Not to worry, that concern was quickly dispelled upon arrival and the local Espresso House is abundant with a number of stores in the immediate area. You probably couldn’t shoot a puck in any direction without hitting one.

Ice Cream & Nutrition: At least a few players were able to make it to the local 7-Eleven – yes that right - to get some ice cream for dessert. It was hard-earned and well-deserved. It was also team approved.

And that means, Carrie Aprik, the team’s nutritionist, has a tremendous influence on what fuels these players up. As part of her role, Carrie maintains the meal plan with the hotel to ensure that the players maximize what they put into their bodies throughout the event.

Team Excursion: Lastly, today will bring a team trip into Copenhagen. The staff and players will leave the hotel in the morning and take the train into Copenhagen. After a few quick group activities, everyone will split up and tour around, get lunch, and then gather back up in the afternoon.
