Making Efficient Use of Ice in Michigan

Dec. 6, 2014 | It's not quite in the same class as gold, silver and iron ore, but ice is a valuable resource nonetheless. USA Hockey's ADM aims to make efficient use of that resource to give hockey families more development for their dollar. The ADM crew – along with U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Robbie Ftorek – was at Western Michigan University's Lawson Ice Arena recently to work with coaches, players and parents from the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association when they snapped this photo. In it, 22 players can be seen. Twenty-three more are out of the frame for a total of 45 – and there's still room to spare. No lines, no laps, no lectures, and a whole lot of skill development. That's a formula for success.
