The countdown is over and the 2014-15 National Hockey League season begins tonight with four games on tap, including the return of the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Los Angeles Kings, versus their in-state rival, the San Jose Sharks.
Seven members of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team who competed in the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, will log their first minutes of the new season tonight. Those players are Dustin Brown (Los Angeles Kings), Jonathan Quick (Los Angeles Kings), Ryan Miller (Vancouver Canucks), Phil Kessel (Toronto Maple Leafs), James van Riemsdyk (Toronto Maple Leafs), Max Pacioretty (Montreal Canadiens), and Joe Pavelski (San Jose Sharks).
All 25 players from the U.S. Olympic roster, and 51 alumni of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program are featured on opening day NHL team rosters.
