Schedule Announced for 2014-15 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today the schedule for the 2014-15 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Highlighting the slate is the 2015 International Paralympic Committee Ice Sledge Hockey World Championship, which will be hosted at HARBORCENTER in Buffalo, New York April 24-May 2. Team USA is the reigning world champion after capturing gold at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Team USA kicks off international competition at the 2015 World Sledge Hockey Challenge Jan. 31-Feb. 8 in Edmonton, Alberta. The U.S. will host Canada for a three-game series March 24-29 in Indian Trail. North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte.

There will be three training camps leading up to international play. The first camp is set for Oct. 2-5 in Washington, D.C. It will also include the 2014 Disabled Hockey Workshop. Additionally, there will be camps in St. Louis, Missouri (Dec. 10-14) and Indian Trail, North Carolina (Jan. 22-25).

Head coach Jeff Sauer (Madison, Wis.) is in his fourth season at the helm for the U.S. National Sled Team.

NOTES: Seventeen players were named to the 2014-15 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team on July 22. Eleven players return from the 2014 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team that won gold in Sochi, Russia, including goaltender Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.); defensemen Tyler Carron (Fort Collins, Colo.), Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) and Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.); and forwards Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.), Dan McCoy (Cheswick, Pa.), Kevin McKee (Davenport, Iowa), Adam Page (Lancaster, N.Y.), Paul Schaus (Buffalo, N.Y.), Josh Sweeney (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) … Over the last five major International Paralympic Committee events, Team USA has won four gold medals (2010 and 2014 Paralympics, 2009 and 2012 World Championships) and one silver medal (2013 World Championship) … Dan Brennan (Colorado Springs, Colo.), director of sled and inline national teams for USA Hockey, is serving as the general manager of the 2014-15 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Additional staff members include team physician Mike Uihlein (Grafton, Wis.), athletic trainer Mike Cortese (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and equipment manager Joel Isaacson (Houghton, Mich.).
