22 Players Named to 2014 U.S. Women's U-22 Select Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty-two players who participated at the 2014 USA Hockey Women's National Festival have been chosen for the 2014 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team that will compete in a three-game series against Canada Aug. 21-24 in Calgary, Alberta, at Canada Olympic Park.

The USA Hockey Women's National Festival took place Aug. 12-16 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York.

The roster features three players who helped the 2014 U.S. Women's Olympic Ice Hockey Team earn a silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. They are Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Michelle Picard (Taunton, Mass.) and Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.).

The 22 players represent 12 different states. Minnesota and New York lead the pack with four representatives each, while Michigan and Massachusetts each have three. California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin each have one representative. This year's roster will include two players who are 22-years old at the time of the series.

NOTES: The 2014 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team will practice in Lake Placid on Aug. 17-18 prior to heading to Canada. The three-game series vs. Canada is an event between the two countries that has been held 10 times since 1999. Reagan Carey (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey's director of women's hockey, is the general manager of the 2014 U.S. Women's Under-18 Select Team ... Ken Klee (Littleton, Colo.) will serve as head coach and be assisted by Robb Stauber (Medina, Minn.), Bob Deraney (Providence, R.I.) and Brett Strot (Tampa, Fla.).
