U.S. Under-17 Select Team Skates at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Aug. 6-7

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Under-17 Select Team will be in Arlington, Virginia, at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex for a pair of practices Wednesday and Thursday (Aug. 6-7) to prepare for the 2014 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament.

Each of the team’s practices will be free and open to the public.

The 2014 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament is slated for Aug. 13-17 in Crimmitschau, Germany, and features teams from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United States.

The 20-man roster was selected following the USA Hockey Boys' Select 16 Player Development Camp that took place from July 7-13 at The Northtown Center at Amherst in Williamsville, New York.

USA Hockey player development camps provide top young players with concentrated on- and off-ice training and instruction, as well as the opportunity to compete at the national level against other top players from their age group.

Minnesota leads the way with nine players, while Michigan has three and Texas has two ... Cary Eades (Sioux Falls, S.D.), general manager and head coach of the United States Hockey League's Sioux Falls Stampede, is serving as head coach. Assistant coaches are Clark Donatelli (Wheeling, W.Va.), head coach of the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, and Bob Mancini (Saginaw, Mich.), a regional manager for USA Hockey's American Development Model. Phil Osaer (East Lansing, Mich.), director of hockey operations for Michigan State University (Big Ten), is the video and goalie coach.
