Boys Select 17: Day Five Recap

Roster Update: White's No. 8, Gage Mackie, Forest's No. 18, Bailey Conger, and Forest's No. 15, Harrison Oates, did not dress for their respective clubs once again on Tuesday due to injury. Royal's Steven Ruggiero (No. 3) also missed Tuesday's action with an injury.

We Are The Champions: Grey claimed the Select 17 championship on Tuesday, defeating Black by a score of 4-2 in a battle between the week's top two clubs.  Jake Pappalardo (No. 10) contributed a goal and an assist, with Alexander Overhardt (No. 15), David Keefer (No. 17) and Austin Alger (No. 14) each providing a goal apiece. Overall, Grey also finished the five games this week with the greatest goal-differential at plus- 16 (28GF/12GA). 

Kelly Claims Third Place: In the medal round's consolation game, Kelly received points from 11 different skaters en route to a 6-1 win over Royal. John Anderson (No. 12, 0G/3A) tallied three points to lead the way, and Lucas Morgan (No. 9, 1G/1A), Lincoln Griffin (No. 11, 1G/1A), Grant Jozefek (No. 14, 0G/2A) and August Von Ungern-Sternberg (No. 15, 2G/0A) all registered two . 

Camp's Top Scorers: Red's No. 15, Colton Fletcher (3G, 5A), White's No. 16, Ryan Moore (2G, 6A), and White's No. 9, Hunter Luhmann (6G, 2A), were the top scorers of this week's Select 17 camp with eight points. Luhmann, along with Red's No. 11, Dennis Yan, led camp with six goals apiece. Moore's six helpers also ranked him atop all skaters.

Camp's Top Goaltenders: Kelly's No. 30, Aaron Fanti (1.61 GAA, .941 SV%), and Black's No. 1, Nicholas Vilardo (1.61 GAA, .935 SV%), finished as the top goaltenders at this week's camp. Over fives halves between the pipes, Fanti allowed just four goals on 64 shots, while Vilardo surrendered four on 58 shots.

Not Finished Just Yet: The 2014 Select 17 camp wraps-up on Wednesday, when its top players hit the ice for the All-Star Game. The contest is slated to commence at 10 a.m. on the Olympic Rink.
