U.S. Developmental Team Falls to Canada in Shootout

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. - The U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team lost to Canada, 1-0, in a shootout here today in the opening contest of a three-game series at Extreme Ice Center.

Team USA's Kyle Huckaby (Port Author, Texas) and Canada's Kris Dutkiewicz turned away 15 shots and 14 shots, respectively, during the scoreless three periods plus overtime.

In the shootout, Team USA's first two shooters were denied, while Canada scored on its first and second attempts to clinch the win.

The U.S. and Canada will meet tomorrow (Friday, April 17) at 3:30 p.m. ET, and finally on Saturday (April 18) at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Former U.S. Paralympic Team members Kip St. Germaine (East Falmouth, Mass.) and Mike Blabac (Hamburg, N.Y.) serve as associate head coach and assistant coach, respectively ... Jeremy Kennedy (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey manager of membership and disabled hockey, is the general manager.
