COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will compete in the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championship, May 4-12, at the WinSport Arena in Calgary, Alberta. 

The U.S. is seeking its fourth-consecutive, and seventh overall world championship gold medal. 

Team USA opens play on Saturday (May 4) against Slovakia at 10 a.m. local time (12 p.m. ET and will also face Korea (May 5/1:30 p.m. local, 3:30 p.m. ET) and China (May 7/1:30 p.m. local, 3:30 p.m. ET) in preliminary round play. Quarterfinals will be held May 8, followed by semifinals on May 10. The bronze and gold-medal games will be played on May 12.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to defend our world championship gold medal in Calgary,” said David Hoff, head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. “We have been growing as a team all season and we are well-prepared for the challenge ahead.”

The U.S. National Sled Team currently holds a 15-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) on the season after winning the IPH Cup in Ostrava, Czechia, in October, and the Para Hockey Cup in Quispamsis, N.B, in December. Team USA also went 3-0-0-0 against Canada in the March Sled Series in Minot, N.D., and 2-0-0-0 in the April Sled Series vs. Canada in Calgary. 

NOTES: The U.S. holds a 44-3-1-15 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time record at the World Para Ice Hockey Championship … Team USA has won a record six gold medals, and has played in nine of the last ten gold-medal games … Dan Brennan (Colorado Springs, Colo.), director of sled national teams for USA Hockey, is in his 18th season as the general manager of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.) is in his sixth season as head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team and is joined by assistant coach Corey Gorder (Bottineau, N.D.).
