ELMIRA, Ont. – Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) recorded a hat trick and added an assist give him 100 career goals and 200 career points for the U.S National Sled Hockey Team, lifting the U.S. to a 9-3 victory over Canada in game two of the Sled Series today at Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario.

With the victory, the U.S. moves to 10-2-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) on the season, including a 4-2-0-0 record against Canada.

“We had good energy tonight.” said David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.), head coach of the U.S National Sled Hockey Team. “I really liked the way we played, especially in the offensive zone, and it was great to see several guys with strong offensive outputs.”

Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) opened the scoring 3:50 into the game capitalizing on a rebound in the slot off of a shot from the point by Wallace. Just under two minutes later, U.S. goaltender Griffin LaMarre (Haverhill, Mass.) made a series of key saves to keep the U.S. up a goal, flashing his glove on three consecutive opportunities for Canada, and lunging across the crease to make an improbable diving save against an odd-man rush.

Just before the midway mark of the opening frame, Jack Wallace (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) forced a turnover at the offensive blue line and barreled down the boards, tucking a wrist shot under the goaltender’s glove to give the U.S. a 2-0 lead. With 6:40 left to play in the first, LaMarre made yet another sprawling save, but Canada capitalized with 5:11 to go on a two-on-one chance and cut the U.S. lead to just one. With 3:59 remaining, Roybal gathered a feed from Wallace at the right circle and blasted a shot off the crossbar to give the U.S. a 3-1 lead to end the period.

Wallace opened the middle stanza with his second tally of contest, and less than two minutes later Evan Nichols (Haymarket, Va.) fired a top shelf wrister past the netminder to give the U.S. a 5-1 lead at 3:18. While on the powerplay, Roybal picked up his second goal of the game off assists from Farmer and Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.) with 6:49 to go. Canada cut the lead to 6-2 with a powerplay goal of their own with just over three minutes remaining, but Noah Grove (Frederick, Md.) picked up his first goal of the series in the final minute and the U.S. went to intermission up 7-2.

Canada picked up its second powerplay goal seven minutes into the final frame to make it 7-3. With 6:39 remaining, Brody Roybal gathered the puck in the high slot, spun, and wristed his third goal of the game into the upper right corner to complete the hat trick. David Eustace (Stoneham, Mass.) picked up his first tally of the series with just under four minutes to go, the final goal in the 9-3 victory for Team USA.

LaMarre stopped 27 shots in the win.
