Job Title: USA Hockey Arena Production Director
Department: Marketing, Communications/National Team Development Program (NTDP) & USA Hockey Arena
Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing, USA Hockey Arena
USA Hockey Arena is seeking a qualified, collaborative and passionate full-time Production Director to manage all facility events, NTDP games and digital assets with the goal of improving our guests experience at USA Hockey Arena 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
- Operate video production switcher during home games and events
- Responsible for directing video sources through a video router, performing live digital effects and transitions, plus import of pre-recorded and live material and graphics
- Responsible for building and updating all transitions, macros, backgrounds, etc., prior to start of games
- Responsible for the technical quality of the signal being recorded or broadcast and will utilize various measuring devices and displays to ensure quality control
- Responsible for coordinating with Play-By-Play broadcaster in coordinating & executing broadcast on HockeyTV and on local television
- Responsible for creating and scripting content to fill a sports television broadcast
- Monitor audio and mixing as well as audio recordings throughout productions for both in-venue and broadcast
- Responsible for coordinating with network television crews when a National TV crew is on-site (Examples: NHL Network & TSN)
- Responsible for providing input into the creative side of the production on both the video and audio aspects of the programming
- Responsible for executing & creating content for the LED and video boards for events and gamedays
- Edit game highlights and event recaps
- Shoot and edit special events or game night promotions to assist in driving ticket sales & revenue
- Create video content for social media including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
- Create video content for videoboards, broadcast & internal use
- Create sponsor-driven opportunities with video content that generate revenue
- Assist with graphic projects, including but not limited to headshots and updating templates
- Collaborate and assist with larger projects
- Import and format sponsor and team logos/graphics and information as well as pre-game and in-game presentation elements
- Execute content, sponsorships material and in-game elements as indicated on the run of show or as requested by the Manager of Marketing
- Troubleshoot both hardware and software issues that arise as part of an in-game entertainment system.
- Assist with ad hoc graphic requests to support creative needs at games and special events
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience and strong technical directing background with experience in control rooms and studios
- Previous experience switching games (including building macros and transitions)
- Extensive knowledge of video transmission displays and projection techniques
- Ability to creatively collaborate with other production team members
- Ability to use multiple M/Es on the switcher to produce different shows for the videoboards, television & a feed for coaches film
- Previous experience with Sportzcast Scorebot scoreboard integration with LiveXML & NewTek LiveText
- Previous experience with NDI protocol
- Previous experience with Daktronics AllSport scoreboard controllers
- Previous experience with video production control room management, maintenance & building add-ons to the infrastructure & production
- Basic IT knowledge for working with static IP addresses on video & audio networks
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work non-standard hours including nights, weekends, holidays and commit to 60 or more events per year
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop
- Familiarity with DSLR cameras
- Strong knowledge of the NTDP, USHL and the game and rules of hockey
- Experience working in a control rooms and broadcast trucks
- Experience operating and programming a NewTek Tricaster 460, NewTek 3Play 440/ 425, BlackMagic Video Router, RaspberryPI LED screens and WebDT LED screens.
- Live sports in-venue video board experience
- Live sports television broadcast experience
