Mason Lohrei Added to 2020 BioSteel All-American Game Roster

Top American prospects eligible for 2020 NHL Draft to compete at USA Hockey Arena Jan. 20

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey today announced that defenseman Mason Lohrei (Verona, Wis.) will participate in the 2020 BioSteel All-American Game, which will take place Monday, Jan. 20 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. He will be part of the Team Gomez roster.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be televised live on NHL Network.

The game features the top American players eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft and this season, for the first time, the format has players from the U.S. National Under-18 Team of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program -- Team Knuble, taking on the top draft-eligible American-born players from the USHL, the lone Tier I junior league in the United States -- Team Gomez. The teams are named after the honorary coaches for the contest, retired NHL stars Mike Knuble (Kentwood, Mich.) and Scott Gomez (Anchorage, Alaska).

Lohrei is in his first full season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL after skating in nine contests with the team during the 2018-19 season. Through 30 games, the 6-foot-4 defenseman paces all Green Bay blueliners with 21 points (6-15). He is committed to play college hockey at Ohio State University for the 2020-21 season.

NOTES: Mason Lohrei will replace Ben Meehan who will not be able to compete due to injury ... Scott Gomez (Anchorage, Alaska) and Mike Knuble (Kentwood, Mich.) -- both who played on multiple U.S. men's national teams, including together on the 2006 U.S. Men's Olympic Team, will serve as the honorary head coaches ... To date, 188 alumni of the All-American Prospects Game have been drafted in the NHL, including 44 first-round selections and a record 31 picks in last year’s NHL Draft ...
