Senior Accountant - USA Hockey Arena

Responsible for the oversite of the accounting department of USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI

Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: USA Hockey Arena
Reports To: General Manager, USA Hockey Arena
Basic Function: Responsible for the oversite of the accounting department including but not limited to preparing and creating an annual budget, forecasting,  preparation of monthly financial statements,  fiscal year-end audits and day-to-day financial management of USA Hockey Arena

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Prepare for the fiscal year-end audit
  • Manage accounting staff
  • Accounts payable and receivables/property and sales tax
  • Payroll
  • Creating and maintaining financial controls
  • Maintaining and creating financial statistics
  • Ability to forecast financial analytics to help support business decisions
  • Event settlements (drive-in/NTDP/concerts/misc.)
  • Review check vouchers and account numbers
  • Audit and review expense statements
  • Expenses reports
  • Recordkeeper of all arena contracts
  • Prepare 1099 forms
  • Invoicing/contract billing
  • Employee commissions
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong computer skills with essential knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel,  Microsoft Dynamics, ADP, HRIS, and other systems as needed
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of non-profit organizations and 990s, volunteer organization  beneficial
  • Ability to lead


  • Master’s degree,  CPA
  • Experience working in sports/arena/event business
  • Ceridian experience
  • Non-profit experience a plus

Salary: Commensurate with experience. The senior accountant position is a full-time, year-round position which includes a USA Hockey benefits package.
