The 2018 World Junior Summer Showcase took place July 28-Aug. 4 in Kamloops, British Columbia, at the Sandman Centre. The week-long camp, which included 11 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States, served as an audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.

HASTINGS' IMPRESSION
The U.S. left Kamloops with an overall record of 4-1-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in games against Canada, Finland and Sweden. 
     "We really showed ourselves this week," said U.S. head coach Mike Hastings (Crookston, Minn.). "This is a talented group that was able to face adversity head on, and that says a lot about the character within the room. We’re excited to see the players here, as well as some who weren’t, play their best hockey this fall to earn the chance to represent our country and compete for gold in December."

U.S. STAT LEADERS
Overall, defenseman Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) led all U.S. skaters in points with six, including a team-high five assists. Ranking second was forward and University of Michigan teammate Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) who tallied five points (2-3) while Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) shared the U.S. lead in goals with three. In net, Kyle Keyser (Coral Springs, Fla.) posted U.S.-bests in goals against average (2.00) and save percentage (.914) while Cayden Primeau (Voorhees, N.J.) ranked second in goals against average (2.73) and Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) was runner-up in save percentage (.865)
