March 15: Day 12

With a 10-1 semifinal win over Italy tonight, the 2018 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team has advanced to the gold-medal game for the third straight Paralympic Winter Games. Team USA will look to claim its third consecutive Paralympic gold medal on Sunday (March 18) when it takes on Canada, which reached the gold-medal game by blanking host Korea, 7-0, in its semifinal tilt.

RECORDS MADE TO BE BROKEN
Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) scored once and Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) tallied twice to each finish the night with 12 goals in their nine-game Paralympic careers to share the U.S. record for most goals by a U.S. player in Paralympic history. With 10 goals in 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, Roybal is one goal shy of tying the U.S. and Paralympic record for most goals in a single Paralympic Winter Games, which was set by Sylvester Flis in 2002. In addition, defenseman Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) enters Sunday’s gold-medal game with seven assists, which is one away from the U.S. single-Paralympic record of eight set by Joe Howard in 2002. With 14 assists in 14 Paralympic career games, Landeros is also one assist away from tying the U.S. career assists record that is also held by Howard.

LOOK AHEAD: OFF DAY TOMORROW
Tomorrow, the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team will enjoy the day off. While yesterday and this morning saw weather conditions reach mid 60's, a cold front returned to the mountains that saw Team USA return to a snow-covered PyeongChang Paralympic Village. Players and staff will spend the day off with family and friends before reconvening in the evening in preparation of Saturday's practice.

TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Entering Sunday's gold-medal game, Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) leads all skaters in goals (10) and points (16) while teammate Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) ranks second in both categories with nine goals and 15 points. Among defensemen, Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) shares the tournament-lead for points (11) and goals (4) while his seven assists is tied for second. Of the tournament's starting goaltenders, Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.) leads all goaltenders with two shutouts while sharing a tournament-best 0.00 goals-against-average and 1.00 save percentage. In three games played, he's captured three wins while turning aside all 19 shots he's faced.
