January 22: Day Four

The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team opened tournament play today, besting host Italy by a 6-0 tally in the tournament's morning tilt at 10 a.m. local time.

GAME ONE RECAP: USA 6, ITA 0
Josh Misiewicz (La Grange, Ill.) and Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) each tallied a goal and an assist as the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team topped Italy, 6-0, in its first game of the 2018 Turin Para Ice Hockey International Tournament at the Palaghiaccio Tazzoli.
     Noah Grove (Frederick, Md.) and Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) each added second period goals while Travis Dodson (Deming, N.M.) and Ralph DeQuebec (San Pedro, Calif.) each tallied their first goals as members of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team.
     “I thought we got better as the game went on and did what we needed to do to get the win,” said Guy Gosselin, head coach of the 2018 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. “Their goalie played extremely well, but credit to our guys for persevering and getting this hard-earned win. We’ll rest up tonight and get ready for tomorrow’s game against Japan.”

U.S. TAKES IN JUVENTUS GAME
After today's game, several members of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team traveled downtown to Allianz Stadium where they took in an Italian Series A league match between the local Juventus club and its opponent, Genoa. The local side came away with a 1-0 victory.
