Proudly serving East Tennessee since 1962, the Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association (KAHA) strives to provide an environment, which allows players to learn the fundamental skills of hockey and experience the fun of playing the game. It is KAHA’s intention to promote the development of character, integrity, good sportsmanship and an appreciation for teamwork.

The organization’s interest in developing a sled hockey program has grown since 2000, when longtime KAHA member, Skip Williams, first introduced the idea. The idea was revisited this year by current KAHA president, Kevin Snell, who is a double amputee.

In an effort to test both the level of interested participants and overall desire for a sled hockey program in East Tennessee, KAHA held a sled clinic last October. With a better-than-expected turnout that included positive media coverage and additional inquiries, it became clear that an interest in sled hockey is present in East Tennessee.

As one of ten programs to receive $25,000 Sled Hockey Development Grant, presented by Labatt Blue, KAHA is excited to provide the East Tennessee community with the assets needed to launch a successful program that can develop teams to compete in regional and national competitions.
