The Pittsburgh Penguin’s slogan “Experience the Evolution” means a lot more than just the changing of the guard from the Mario Lemieux generation to the Sidney Crosby generation of Penguins for a group of 6-8 year old hockey players from the Wheeling area who have been selected to play a scrimmage game during the intermission of a Pittsburgh Penguins home game Thursday night November 13th at Mellon arena. The team which is called the Amateur Nailers plays at the Mite level and travels throughout the Pittsburgh area playing other youth teams. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that the children are very fortunate to be selected for and will always remember” said Coach Debbie Turziano. Currently the team is 3-1-2 during preseason games. They wear the same uniforms as the professional Wheeling Nailers and just like the pros when at home they play at WesBanco Arena. |
