Webmasters, we are experiencing a number of bugs since migration. Some of these are directly affecting your ability to edit your website. We expect to have these issues corrected very soon. Here are some of the more significant bugs to be aware of as you work:
Intermittent Problems with "Create a Menu". Added 05.13.08. There has been an intermittent problem with the "Create a Menu" utility. In some instances, the menu folders are created, but the menu button itself fails to appear.
CMS Hyperlinking Causes Browser Shutdown. Added 05.01.08. An Ektron bug has been discovered that causes all open IE browser windows to close down when you try to add a hyperlink to a piece of content. When you click on the hyperlink icon and into the subsequent dialogue box, all IE windows close. This does not happen in Firefox. To prevent this error from happening, open Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Manage Add-Ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons, then disable the "Google Toolbar Notifier" Add-on.
Changes to Menu Creation and Editing Procedures. Updated 05.13.08. This has been in effect for some time, but please be aware that the current online user manuals still reflect the old processes for dealing with menu creation and deletion.
Here's the change: We have added a "Delete a Menu" function to the CMS Smart Desktop, directly below the existing "Create a Menu" function. This replaces the "Delete" function that previously appeared in the CMS under "View" > "Menu" in the top navigation menu in the Work area. You should also perform all menu editing from within the CMS. Menu editing options have been removed from the web pages themselves. Please see the Menu editing "How To" (left side of page) for a full explanation of how to work with your menus.
Photo Gallery Linking Updated 06.03.08. Because photo galleries cannot be placed directly into a Collection, they must be linked to from another piece of content. The bug that prevented these links from working has now been fixed for newly created photo galleries, however the problem still exists for previously-created galleries. We will not be fixing the problem for old photo galleries–those galleries must be recreated as new files and new links created.
Permissions Error in Organization Drop-downs. Updated 8.29.07. This bug is producing an error that tells the user they do not have permissions when selecting their own site. This appears to be related to the FHNY database problem. This bug is technically fixed, however some users may still experience the problem due to a name discrepancy in the FHNY database. If you are still having this problem, email Eddie with your user ID, password, and site address, so he can correct your particular permissions.
We are also experiencing a larger error affecting organizations that fall below the Association level (Fourth drop-down level) in the FHNY Database. We are currently unable to list those organizations in the drop-down menus, which means those webmasters are unable to perform any function that requires looking themselves up in the drop-down. We currently have a temporary fix in place, with the permanent fix to follow.
Plug-in Installation in Firefox. Currently, users are having trouble installing the necessary plug-ins to Firefox. Following installation, the CMS informs the user that the plug-ins still need to be installed.
"Find Hockey Near You". Updated 5.13.08.The FHNY feature is not returning correct information, or is returning incomplete information. This is a problem with the datebase file we upload to populate that feature. We are working internally to correct this. This is also affecting other features that rely on the dropdown boxes to select organizations. We continue to work on the data file, and have solved a number of problems with this so far. We have fixed the problem with FHNY not returning results for zip codes beginning with "0".
