Another 42 children gave hockey a try at BYH's second Let's Play Hockey event since May.
Forty-two boys and girls from 5 to 15, who had never player hockey before, gave our favorite sport a try on Saturday morning July 25 at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. Several others, from the rink's hockey basics class, run by Chris Bereson, also took part in the event, and ice was packed with rookies, coaches and veteran Stars and Rapids players serving as assistants. Thanks to Reisterstown Sportsplex and manager Dave Phipps for providing the free 90-minute ice session. Thanks to numerous BYH coaches and volunteers, hockey moms and dads, for helping to suit up new players. Parents of players interested in Reisterstown's Hockey Basics Class should contact the rink at 410-429-4242, and those ready for theBaltimore Stars Rec Program should return to the BYH website,www.byhstars.org, to register their son or daughter before Sept. 1. On-line registration should be available soon.

OUR MAY LET'S PLAY RESULTS Ninety boys and girls, from 4 to 14 years of age, came to our three Let's Play Hockey events at Reisterstown Sportsplex and the Lancaster Ice Rink on Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9, to give ice hockey a try -- our biggest Let's Play event yet. Thanks to the many volunteers who came out to help us get the kids suited up and on the ice -- the Dean family, Riley, Jeff, Mary Carol, Anne, Kelly, Lani, Lisa, Darlene, Mark, Dan, Madison, Philip, Holly, Hilton, Jennifer, Matt, Andy, Kathy, Kim, Gary, Vince, Julie, Tori, Sarah, Allen, Noah, Devon and Rod, Mickey, the other Dan, and Chris. Thanks to Reisterstown Sportsplex and Lancaster Ice Rink for providing skates for those we could not fit with our supply. Good job by Coach Boe and the Baltimore Stars and Susquehanna Rapids coaching staff along with Coach Chris from the Reisterstown rink's hockey basics program, and hats off to Antoine Bergeron and all the Firebirds coaching volunteers at Lancaster for organizing a well-run ice session for rookies. Thanks to LCYAHL for its support. We hope many of these boys and girls will complete a hockey basics class and give ice hockey a try this coming season. All Rapids players, parents and coaches are asked to encourage new players to come out and give hockey a try at any time.
