A standout player for Boston College, Ty Hennes was named a regional manager of USA Hockey’s American Development Model on January 9, 2013.

Hennes, who left his chiropractic career to join USA Hockey because of his love of the game, earned his doctorate in 2011 from Parker College of Chiropractic Medicine in Dallas. While in medical school, he began coaching youth hockey and helped guide his team to seven USA Hockey National Championship appearances during his tenure.

Hennes did his undergraduate work at Boston College where he starred on the ice for the Eagles, helping the squad to the 2001 NCAA title in his role as an alternate captain. During his four years in Chestnut Hill, Boston College reached the NCAA tournament three times, including two Frozen Four appearances; won three Hockey East regular-season and two league playoff championships; and also captured the Beanpot title on two occasions.

After graduating from BC in 2004, Hennes signed a professional contract in the Detroit Red Wings organization and played his final professional game in 2007-08.

Hennes was a mult-sport athlete at Deerfield (Mass.) Academy and served as a team captain in baseball, football, and hockey. He was an All-New England selection in all three sports his senior year.

Before attending Boston College, Hennes spent two seasons playing for the United States Hockey League’s Omaha Lancers where he served as team captain his final campaign.

A native of Dickinson, North Dakota, who grew up in Kent, Washington, Hennes has served as an evaluator for USA Hockey player development camps and also as a presenter at multiple USA Hockey coaching clinics.
