North Olmsted Hockey Tryouts Tryouts for Mite, Squirt, Peewee and Bantams will be May 20, 21, 27, and 28, 2009 at the North Olmsted Hockey Rink. The specific date and times for each level are listed on our website, www.nohc.net. Tryouts will consist of at least three (3) sessions per level. In the event that a player misses Spring Tryouts and wishes to play on a North Olmsted Travel Hockey team after team rosters have been announced, the following policy will be invoked: Mite and Squirt Teams The player must be granted permission to tryout by the Hockey Director and/or the NOHC President. The player must agree to be evaluated by the Hockey Director and Head Coach for proper team placement. All recommendations by the Hockey Director and Head Coach must be approved by the NOHC Board. If the first team has less than 9 forwards, 5 defensemen, or 2 goalies on the roster, the player may be added to a team’s roster provided that the player’s evaluation skate ranks that player mid-pack or higher for a position player or of equal quality to the first selected goalie. In the event the player does not fit the above criteria, or the team’s roster is complete, the player may be added to the second or third team under these same rules. Under no circumstances will a player selected to a team in spring tryouts be sent down to a lower level team – NO EXCEPTIONS. Peewee and Bantam Teams The same policy applies to Peewee and Bantam teams with the exception of team roster size. Peewee and Bantam teams will be limited to 9 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goalies. All other criteria remain the same as stated above for Mites and Squirt Teams. 2009 – 2010 Registration and Tryouts There is a $30 charge for the tryouts and a $100 Registration Fee due at the first tryout. The Registration Fee is refundable if the player does not make the first team. The $100 Registration Fee ensures each player a spot on their team and will be applied to the Player’s Hockey Dues for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. Details regarding Hockey Dues and financing options for the upcoming season are available on the Club’s website at www.nohc.net. Teams are selected based on the ability of the players trying out at each level. The Hockey Director will attempt to avoid a wide range of ability on a team in order to better develop each team and the individual skills of each player in the program. Consequently, the size of each team is at the discretion of the Hockey Director. Team selection is based on the Hockey Director’s evaluation of each player during spring tryouts – no player is guaranteed a spot prior to tryouts. Team rosters will be posted 15 minutes after each level’s final tryout. The $100 Registration Fee ensures a player their spot on the roster. Failure to be paid-in full by this time will result in the player forfeiting their spot on the roster. If you have questions regarding tryouts, the team selection process, and/or the specifics around YOUR player’s team selection, please direct all questions to the Hockey Director. Post Tryout Team Meetings On Tuesday, June 2, 2009, the Head Coaches will meet with the Hockey Director to discuss potential offseason training opportunities, systems and strategy for the upcoming hockey season, and a new code of conduct applicable to coaches, parents and players. At the conclusion of this meeting, the Head Coach with the approval of the Hockey Director will be selecting his Assistant Coaches and Team Manager. Subsequent to this meeting, a formal Parents’ Meeting will be scheduled by the Head Coach to announce his Coaching Staff, Team Manager and to discuss the applicable Code of Conducts and other specifics for the upcoming hockey season.
