GAMEDAY: U.S. vs. Canada in U18 Women's Worlds Semifinals

The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team takes on Canada in the semifinals of the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship at the Ice Palace in Dmitrov, Russia. Puck drop is slated for 3:30 p.m. local time/7:30 a.m. ET.  Today's game will be live streamed on the embedded video above. Series vs. Canada: 6-3-3-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L)

Of Note: Team USA and Canada are meeting for the first time in the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship semifinals, having squared off in the gold-medal game in all 10 previous events.

Last Meeting: Jan. 9: USA 6, CAN 2: Five different players netted goals, including two from Taylor Heise, as Team USA topped Canada, 6-2, to clinch the top seed in Group A and a bye to the semifinal round. 

TEAM USA IN SEMIFINALS
The U.S. is 10-0-0-0 all-time in the semifinals of the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, topping the Czech Republic six times, Sweden twice and Germany and Russia each once. Last year, the U.S.  blanked Russia, 6-0, to advance to the gold-medal game.

TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Taylor Heise (Lake City, Minn.) ranks second among all skaters in the competition with three goals, while Dominique Petrie (Beverly Hills, Calif.) and Makenna Webster (St. Louis, Mo.) are also tied for second in assists with four apiece. Goaltender Lindsay Reed (New Vernon, N.J.) has the tournament's third-highest save percentage at .923.

TEAM BUILDING
The 23-player roster for the 2018 U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team was unveiled on December 1. The team held a pre-tournament camp from Dec. 28-Jan. 2 in Wesley Chapel, Florida, where the U.S. Women’s National Team is also training ahead of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, in preparation for the tournament. Team USA flew to Russia on Jan. 2 and held four practices in Dmitrov before opening the competition. After sweeping the preliminary round, U.S. players and staff traveled down to Moscow on Jan. 10, where they explored and had dinner in the Russian capital alongside friends and family.
