Leggio, Maxwell Added to 2018 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team Roster

Full 25-Player Roster Now Complete

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today that goaltenders David Leggio (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) have been named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team.

The duo join the first 23 players named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team on Jan. 1 and complete the final 25-player roster. Team USA will begin play in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games on Feb. 14 against Slovenia.

Leggio, who has represented Team USA in two IIHF Men’s World Championships (2010, 2014) and two Deutschland Cups (2009, 2017), is currently playing with EHC München of the DEL, where he has competed in 20 games and recorded a 2.55 goals against average and .917 save percentage this season. He previously played professionally in the AHL (2010-15) and is a product of Clarkson University (2004-08), where he helped the Golden Knights win the ECAC playoff title in 2007 and regular-season championship in 2008.

Maxwell, who helped the U.S. earn the bronze medal at the 2008 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship, was a member of Team USA at the 2017 Deutschland Cup. He is currently competing with BK Mlada Boleslav of the Czech Hockey League, and in 28 games this season has a 2.37 goals against average and .931 save percentage. Maxwell, who has played professionally in Europe since 2012, spent two seasons (2007-09) at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.

NOTES: The selection of the U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team is subject to the approval of the United States Olympic Committee… The U.S. has finished in the top four in three of the previous four Olympic tournaments, including silver medals in both 2002 and 2010 … Jim Johannson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is the general manager of the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team, while Ben Smith (Gloucester, Mass.) is serving as director of player personnel and Tony Granato (Downers Grove, Ill.) as head coach …. USA Hockey’s international council, chaired by Gavin Regan (Potsdam, N.Y.), vice president of USA Hockey, has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national and Olympic teams.
