U17s Fall to Steel, 6-2

The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Chicago Steel, 6-2 tonight taking them to 3-2-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) against USHL competition.

Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) tallied two assists giving him 39 points on the season.

Chicago scored at 6:35 of the first period on a breakaway to take the lead. They netted a power play goal at 11:28 to give them a 2-0 lead after the first period.

Skater Leaders

Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) made several big saves to start the second period including stopping a 2-on-0 breakaway.

At 9:32 of the second, Hughes stole the puck and made a quick pass to Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) in the slot who went top shelf to get the U17s on the board. Ryder Rolston (Birmingham, Mich.) also tallied an assist on the goal.

Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.) scored on the power play, making it 4-2, at 10:37 of the third period. Hughes passed the puck to Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) whose shot from the point was tipped in front by Turcotte.

Chicago added another goal in the second and three more goals in the third for a final score of 6-2.

Knight and Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) combined for 24 saves on the night.

The U17s return to action next Friday (Nov. 24) at 8 p.m. ET against the Sioux Fall Stampede in Sioux Falls, S.D.
