The Under-17 National Team continued its winning streak Saturday night at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota where it defeated the Minnesota Magicians, 7-4.
The Magicians opened scoring at 6:42 of the first period to take the first lead of the game.
At 7:13 of the first period, Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.) tied the game at one sending in a one-timer from Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas).
Danny Weight (Lattingtown, N.Y.) added to the 17s lead at 7:42 after Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) wrapped the puck around the net and passed it behind his back to Weight, who finished the play. Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) also added an assist on the goal.
Drew Helleson (Farmington, Minn.) sent a stretch pass to Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) at center ice who extended the U17s lead at 8:06 of the first.
Minnesota added goals at the end of the first and beginning of the second to tie that game at 3 at 6:02 of the second frame.
Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) walked to the front of the net and buried the puck at 8:00 of the second with helpers from Weight and Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.).
The Magicians tied it once again at 10:10 of the second.
Caufield netted his second of the game and the eventual game-winner at 6:56 of the third period sending the puck to the back of the net from top of the left circle. Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) added the assist.
John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y) added one and York scored his second goal of the night at 18:46 and 19:29 to seal the game 7-4.
Goaltenders Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) and Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) split time in net combining for 20 saves.
The U17s are back in action Saturday, October 7 when they head to Fox Valley Ice Arena to take on the Chicago Steel at 8 pm ET.
