U17s in Switzerland for Four Nations; U18s Travel To Madison

MASHING MADISON: The U.S. National Under-18 Team travels to Madison this week for a pair of matchups with the Capitols (USHL) at Alliant Energy Center. The U18s will play Friday (8:05 p.m. ET) and Saturday (8:05 p.m. ET).

In their last meeting on November 11-12, the U18s split a series with Madison at USA Hockey Arena. After falling 4-2 on Friday, the U18s picked up a 4-1 victory following tallies from Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.), Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.), Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) and Jordan Seyfert (Annville, Pa.). 

The Capitols currently sit one spot ahead of Team USA in the USHL standings after posting 20 points in 23 games played (9-2-1-1). They are coming off a 5-2 victory against Green Bay last Saturday (Dec. 10). 

They are lead offensively by Vladislav Dzhioshvili who has recorded 15 points (8-7-15) in 22 games. Simon Butala (+3) and Brady Smith (+2) lead the Capitols defense that has allowed 58 goals this season. 

Gabriel Mollot-Hill (4-4-1, 1.81 goals-against-average) and Logan Halladay (6-6-2, 2.58 goals-against-average) have split time in net for Madison. 

TRIP TO SWITZERLAND: The U.S. National Under-17 Team, part of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, will play in the 2016 Under-17 Four Nations Cup in Monthey, Switzerland, Friday-Sunday (Dec. 16-18).

The U.S. will be competing alongside Russia, Slovakia and host Switzerland. Team USA will face Switzerland in a pre-tournament game Wednesday (Dec. 14) at 1:30 p.m. ET before opening the tournament Friday (Dec. 16) against Slovakia at 8:15 a.m. ET.

This is the Under-17 Team's second of three international events during the 2016-17 campaign. From Oct. 27-Nov. 4, the U17s were in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, competing in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Team USA went 2-1-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L), falling to Sweden in the quarterfinals and topping Canada Red, 3-2, in the fifth-place game.

ST. CYR NAMED GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: U.S. National Under-18 Team goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) was named the CCM/USHL Goaltender of the Week following a two-victory weekend, the United States Hockey League announced Monday afternoon. 

In his two starts last week, St. Cyr backstopped Team USA to a pair of victories. He picked up his first NTDP career shutout with a 15-save performance on Thursday against Cedar Rapids before making 28 saves on 29 Bloomington shots in a win over the Thunder on Saturday night at USA Hockey Arena. 

He has now earned a win in his last four USHL starts. The University of Michigan commit has a USHL record of 5-1-1-0 on the season with a 2.14 GAA and .921 SV%. 

St. Cyr is the second NTDP player to earn USHL weekly honors. Earlier this season, Hughes was named CCM/USHL Defenseman of the Week. 

TEAM USA IN THE USHL: The U17s and U18s play a combined USHL schedule. So far this year they have a combined record of 7-11-1-1 through 20 games. The U18s have a record of 5-3-1-0 and the U17s have a record of 2-8-0-1.

U18S KEYS TO VICTORY: The U18s have secured 10 of their 13 wins within the confines of USA Hockey Arena this season. In addition, they have found success on Saturdays, racking up seven wins on Saturdays this season. They have also earned all but one of their wins by outshooting their opponents.
