USA Hockey is proud to be working with the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs to help grow disabled hockey programs across the country and provide Veterans with disabilities an opportunity to try and play the sport of hockey. With the help of a grant from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, USA Hockey has created three new initiatives around running Try Hockey For Free events for Veterans with disabilities.

Through an application process, USA Hockey will select five Sled Hockey programs, five Warrior Hockey programs and five Blind Hockey Programs to each receive $5,000 in pass-through funding. In addition, the Sled Hockey programs will receive five free sleds from Mobility Sports, the Warrior Hockey programs will receive $3,000 worth of equipment from Total Hockey and the Blind Hockey programs will receive $3,500 worth of equipment from Total Hockey.

Selected programs will be required to run at least two Try Hockey For Free events targeted towards Veterans with disabilities by August 31, 2017.  In order to apply, programs must complete the appropriate application form (below) and email it to DisabledHockeyGrants@usahockey.org no later than December 23, 2016. USA Hockey will review all submissions and announce the winners no later than January 6, 2017.
