VIERUMAKI, Finland – Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) and Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson (Grand Forks, N.D.) scored but it wasn't enough as the U.S. Women’s National Team fell to Canada, 3-2, here tonight in the team's third game at the 2016 Four Nations Cup. Both teams will meet again tomorrow in the championship game in Jarvenpaa at 11:30 a.m. ET.

“Whenever we play Canada it's a tough game and tonight was no different,” said Ken Klee, head coach of the 2016 U.S. Women’s National Team. “We played hard and battled to the finish. We'll prepare for tomorrow and give it everything we have in the championship game."

The U.S. opened the scoring just :13 into the opening period when Coyne gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead, converting a two-on-one pass from Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho) and beating goaltender Genevieve Lacasse.

Canada tied the game :27 later to knot the game at 1-1. Both teams would exchange chances throughout the period but that would be the extent of the scoring for the period.

At 12:40 of the second frame, Lamoureux-Davidson extended Team USA’s advantage to 2-1 off a goal mouth scramble. Kelli Stack (Brooklyn Heights, Ohio) and Amanda Pelkey (Montpelier, Vt.) would get assists on the play.

Canada would tie the game 2:03 later as Alex Rigsby (Delafield, Wis.) was beat glove-hand side, and the game would remain tied, 2-2, entering the second intermission.

The Canadians would tally a power play goal at 5:59 of the third period to go up 3-2 and that is how the game would end.

Rigsby finished with 17 saves for Team USA.
