Pastujov Tallies Late Winner; U18s Defeat #2 Minnesota Duluth, 2-1

Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) scored with 32 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 1-1 tie and give the U.S. National Under-18 Team a 2-1 victory over second-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Saturday night at AMSOIL Arena.

Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) scored with 32 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 1-1 tie and give the U.S. National Under-18 Team a 2-1 victory over second-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Saturday night at AMSOIL Arena. With the win, the U18s improve their overall record to 3-9-1 and their record against NCAA opponents to 1-5-0. 

Following a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs opened the scoring when Dominic Toninato tallied a goal at the 9:29 mark of the second period. 

Minnesota Duluth's lead didn't last long. Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) tallied his third goal of the season, short-handed, following a feed from Tyler Inamoto (Barrington, Ill.) at the 14:05 mark of the second period. Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) also recorded an assist on the Team USA goal. 

With time running out in regulation, Pastujov took a feed from Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) and buried the puck past UMD goaltender Hunter Shepard. Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) also recorded an assist on the play, his third of the weekend.

Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) recorded 32 saves to pick up his third win of the season, and first win against an NCAA opponent. 

NTDP alum Hunter Miska (2011-13) recorded five saves on five shots for the Bulldogs in one period of work. 

The Under-18 Team is back in action next weekend when they travel to Youngstown to take on the Phantoms in their first USHL matchup since their victory over the Phantoms on Friday, Sept. 24. The puck drops at the Covelli Center at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 28. They return to the confines of USA Hockey Arena on Saturday, Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. ET matchup with Princeton University.
