Jake Goldowski (Thornhurst, Pa.) tallied his third goal of the season in the U.S. National Under-17 Team's 4-1 loss to the Omaha Lancers Friday night at USA Hockey Arena. With the loss the U17s fall to 3-9-0 on the season.
The Lancers took the lead early in the first period, with a power play goal at the 7:46 mark.
Goldowski tied the game at 15:28 of the first period on a backhanded shot following a scramble at the front of the net. Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) and Spencer Stastney (Mequon, Wis.) picked up the assists on the goal.
After trading goals in the first the Lancers pulled away, scoring two in the second period. They added an empty net goal just before time expired to walk away with the solid win.
Keegan Karki (Sartell, Minn.) got the start for Team USA, making 14 saves in 30:12 of ice time before being replaced by Ryan Ullan (Hibbing, Minn.) midway through the second period. Ullan made eight saves on 10 shot attempts.
The U17s return to action next week when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to take part in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. They open play on Thursday with a pre-tournament game with Canada Red Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
