Blue and White Rosters Set for 2016 NJEC

Camp Opens Saturday, July 30, at USA Hockey Arena

USA Hockey announced today the Team Blue and Team White rosters for its National Junior Evaluation Camp that will be taking place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, July 30-August 6, 2016. The 42 players participating in the camp have been separated into two groups for the first three days of practices and games versus Finland and Sweden.

On Aug. 2, Team USA will trim its roster and a single U.S. squad will finish the camp with practices and games against Canada, Finland and Sweden.

Team Blue will be coached by Grant Potulny (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Mike Knuble (East Grand Rapids, Mich.). Team White will be coached by Greg Brown and Ron Rolston (Fenton, Mich.).

Braziel, Chapman Added to Team Staff

USA Hockey announced that Lt. Col. of the Marine Corps, Sean Braziel (Burke, Va.), will serve as Team Building Coach for the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team. Braziel, who was as a guest coach during the 2016 USA Hockey National Team Development Program Evaluation Camp this past March, will be serving on a U.S. national team for the first time. Additionally, Matt Chapman (Bloomington, Ind.), beginning his 11th season as the coordinator of hockey and video operations for St. Cloud State University's men's ice hockey program, will also be serving on his first U.S. national team in the role of video coach.

The camp provides local fans the opportunity to reconnect with several members of last season’s U.S. National Under-18 Team, a part of USA Hockey National Team Development Program. Members from last year’s team who will be attending the camp include forwards Joey AndersonKieffer BellowsTrent Frederic and Clayton Keller; defensemen Adam FoxJ.D. GreenwayChad KrysRyan Lindgren, and Luke Martin; and goaltenders Jake Oettinger and Joseph Woll ... Additionally, 36 of the 42 Americans set to attend the camp have been drafted by NHL clubs, including 22 who were selected at the 2016 NHL Draft last weekend.  Of those 36 players, 12 are first round selections, including 2016 selections Bellows (N.Y. Islanders), Logan Brown (Ottawa), Keller (Arizona), Trent Frederic (Boston), Luke Kunin (Minnesota), Max Jones (Anaheim), Charlie McAvoy (Boston), Tage Thompson (St. Louis), Matthew Tkachuk (Calgary), Riley Tufte (Dallas) and 2015 selections Brock Boeser (Vancouver) and Jack Roslovic (Winnipeg) ... Bob Motzko (St. Cloud, Minn.) is the head coach of the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team ... The assistant coaches for Team USA are Greg Brown (Scituate, Mass.), Grant Potulny (Minneapolis, Minn.), Kris Mayotte (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Steve Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo.) ... USA Hockey's international council, chaired by Gavin Regan (Potsdam, N.Y.), vice president of USA Hockey, has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national teams.
