Illinois-based club becomes most recent addition to growing roster

USA Hockey announced today that the Twin Bridges Lightning (Troy, Illinois) has earned designation as a USA Hockey Model Association.

With this designation, the Twin Bridges program has committed to fully implement programming dedicated to age-appropriate, age-specific skill development in accordance with USA Hockey's American Development Model throughout the 8-and-Under, 10-and-Under and 12-and-Under age classifications.

The Twin Bridges program, which draws players from North St. Louis County in Missouri and Madison County in Illinois, is part of the Missouri Amateur Ice Hockey Association.

"We're pleased to welcome Twin Bridges to our growing list of USA Hockey Model Associations and we're excited for the kids who will benefit from the Lightning's commitment to age-appropriate skill development and fun," said Kevin McLaughlin, senior director of hockey development for USA Hockey. "By taking this step, Twin Bridges is making a strong move to offer the best possible competition and training environment for its players."

As a benefit of its Model Association designation, Twin Bridges will receive support from USA Hockey to further implement the ADM throughout its programs, including in-person coaches training, on-ice instruction and parent resources from USA Hockey's national staff. Additionally, the Lightning program will also receive equipment, signage and educational support from USA Hockey.

"It's been a banner summer for youth hockey in and around St. Louis, with five players from the area picked in the first round of the NHL Draft and local teams continuing to make strides with age-appropriate development," said Bob Mancini, USA Hockey ADM regional manager. "Twin Bridges definitely ranks among those programs. The leadership is committed to emphasizing kids' long-term development and we're excited to count the Lightning among USA Hockey's model associations."
