ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- The U.S. and France meet here today in the fourth of seven preliminary round games for both teams at the 2016 IIHF Men's World Championship.

The Group B standings currently have France fourth of eight teams, while the U.S. stands sixth. A victory in regulation would vault Team USA into a tie for third in the group with Slovakia.

The U.S. and France have met just nine times previously in the world championship with the U.S. winning all but one of those contests. The last meeting occurred in 2013 in Helsinki with Team USA gaining a 4-2 victory.

NOTES: Forward Brock Nelson from the New York Islanders has been added to the roster of the 2016 U.S. Men's National Team. He is expected to arrive tomorrow morning. Nelson was the leading scorer on last year's bronze-medal-winning U.S. Men's National Team ... The U.S. has three games in four days, including tomorrow's tilt against Hungary at 4:15 p.m. (9:15 a.m. ET) ... Ray Shero, general manager of the New Jersey Devils and a member of the U.S. Men's National Team Advisory Group, arrived here yesterday and will be with Team USA through the duration of the tournament ... Paul Holmgren, president of the Philadelphia Flyers and the assistant GM of the 2016 U.S. World Cup Team, is here for three days after arriving yesterday.
