ST. PETERSBURG, Russia – The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Finland in its third preliminary round game of the 2016 IIHF Men’s World Championship here tonight. Opening faceoff is set for 8:15 p.m. (1:15 pm ET) and the game can be seen live on NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and via live stream at NBC Sports Live Extra.

Mike Condon is expected to get the call in goal tonight. He stopped 20-of-23 shots in a 6-3 win over Belarus in Team USA’s last game on Saturday (May 7).

Finland is 2-0 in the tournament, while the U.S. is 1-1. The two teams met in an exhibition game on May 3 in Helsinki, with Finland earning a 3-2 overtime decision in a back-and-forth affair. Team USA has won five of the last six meetings between the two teams in world championship play, including a 5-1 victory in preliminary-round action a year ago.

The U.S. has two days off following tonight’s contest.

Today is a national holiday in Russia. It's called Victory Day and commemorates the capitulation of Nazi Germany to Soviet Union at the end of the Second World War in 1945. Multiple parades, live music and a significant fireworks show are all part of the festivities here in St. Petersburg.
