ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- The U.S. Men's National Team -- average age 23 -- takes on Belarus tonight at 8:15 p.m. (1:15 p.m. ET) in its second of seven preliminary round games at the 2016 IIHF Men's World Championship.

Team USA looks to rebound after a 5-1 loss to defending gold-medalist Canada yesterday afternoon in the opening game of the tournament.

Mike Condon will get the start in goal tonight for the U.S. He played in 55 games (21-25-0, 2.71, .903) for the Montreal Canadiens in 2015-16, his first full season in the NHL. Condon played college hockey at Princeton.

The U.S. has defeated Belarus in five of the six games in the all-time series. The lone blemish for Team USA came last year in a 5-2 loss in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The U.S. was seeking to go 4-0-0 in the world championship for only the fourth time ever and first time since 1939, but was foiled by Belarus.

Most players went through an upbeat pre-game skate late this morning in preparation for tonight's contest. The U.S. looks to avoid going 0-2 in the tournament for the first time since 2010.

Tonight's game will be streamed live in the U.S. on NBC Sports Live Extra. It will air on NBC Sports Network on a delayed basis, beginning at 1:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, May 8 (Mother's Day!).
