Hinostroza Added to 2016 U.S. Men's National Team

Roster Now 22 Players; Three Spots Yet Available

Forward Vinnie Hinostroza (Bartlett, Ill./Rockford IceHogs/Univ. of Notre Dame) has been added to the 2016 U.S. Men's National Team that will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship May 6-22 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.

Hinostroza previously represented the United States at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he tied for second on Team USA in goals (3) and third in points (5). He also skated for three U.S. select teams, highlighted by the 2012 World Junior A Challenge where he was named Most Valuable Player after scoring a team-leading six goals and helping Team USA to the tournament title.

The Bartlett, Illinois, native, who made his professional debut with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League at the tail-end of the 2014-15 season, finished his first full professional season with the IceHogs by leading the team with 51 points (18-33) in 66 games. Additionally, Hinostroza skated in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks with his NHL debut on October 17, 2015.

Prior to his professional career, Hinostroza spent two seasons (2013-15) with the University of Notre Dame men's ice hockey program where he received 2013-14 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and 2014-15 Hockey East First All-Star Team honors.

Of the current 22 players on the U.S. Men's National Team roster, 14 are alumni of the United States Hockey League, the only Tier I junior league in the United States; six spent time in the North American Hockey League, the only Tier II junior league in the U.S.; 18 have competed at the NCAA Division I level; and 13 played for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program ... The staff and players of the 2016 U.S. Men's National Team are selected by the U.S. Men's National Team Advisory Group, led by Jim Johannson, assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. Other members include Stan Bowman (Chicago Blackhawks), Dean Lombardi (Los Angeles Kings), David Poile (Nashville Predators), RayShero (New Jersey Devils), Dale Tallon (Florida Panthers) and Don Waddell (Carolina Hurricanes). In addition, Chris Drury (New York Rangers) will serve as a member of the management group for the 2016 U.S. Men's National Team ... Teams will play a round-robin format within their group and the top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The U.S. will play its seven preliminary round games in St. Petersburg at Yubileiny Arena … USA Hockey's international council, chaired by Gavin Regan (Potsdam, N.Y.), has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national teams.
