USA Hockey Arena To Host 2016 NJEC

U.S. To Face Canada, Finland and Sweden in Plymouth, Michigan, from July 30-Aug. 6 at the National Junior Evaluation Camp

USA Hockey announced today that the 2016 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp will take place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, from July 30-Aug. 6, 2016.

The week-long camp will include 10 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States and serve as preparation for the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship which will take place from December 26, 2016, through January 5, 2017, in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.

The U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp provides invited U.S. players the opportunity to audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.

"We're excited to bring the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp to USA Hockey Arena," said Jim Johannson, assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. "This camp is a great week of hockey that provides quality international competition for fans and, more importantly, serves as a critical part of our process in evaluating players for the U.S. National Junior Team."

More camp information, including rosters and ticket details, will be announced at a later date.

NOTES: Visit worldjuniors.usahockey.com for more information ... This will be the first time the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp will be held at USA Hockey Arena. The camp is typically held at Lake Placid Olympic Center's 1980 Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York. In March 2015 the USA Hockey Foundation purchased the arena (formerly Compuware Arena) in Plymouth, Michigan, which is now home to USA Hockey's National Team Development Program ... The 9th annual Hockey Weekend Across America will take place across the country Friday-Sunday (Feb. 19-21). The three-day celebration was created by USA Hockey to engage the entire hockey community in celebrating the game at all levels and also to provide an opportunity to expose the sport to new audiences ...
