2016 Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Championship Successfully Celebrated in Eagle River, Wisconsin

The 11th annual Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Pond Hockey National Championships concluded Sunday (Feb. 7) with champions being crowned in 18 divisions. The event, which took place on Dollar Lake in Eagle River, Wisconsin, included 280 teams, with nearly 2,000 players representing 30 states.

"There's something special about playing on Dollar Lake, and the competition and camaraderie on display throughout the weekend is really what this event is all about," said Ashley Bevan, senior director of adult hockey for USA Hockey. "We're fortunate to have a great partner in Labatt and we're most appreciative of all their efforts. And we're also thankful to the wonderful people in Eagle River that help make the Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Pond Hockey National Championships a can't-miss event on the hockey calendar each year."

As part of the celebration, two-time Olympian Shelley Looney, who helped the U.S. capture the very first Olympic gold-medal awarded in women's ice hockey in 1998, was on hand to interact with those attending and sign autographs.

In addition, the first-ever USA Hockey Foundation Cornhole Tournament was conducted and, together with an auction, raised more than $3,000 to help further the advancement and growth of the game through The USA Hockey Foundation.
